San Francisco
An Iconic American City
San Francisco is America’s fourth most populated city. There is so much to see and do in and around this iconic piece of our country.
For this trip, we only did a drive through on our way to Filoli House and Gardens to see the Danbo Trolls Save the Humans Exhibit. In the past, we have explored San Francisco itself and here are a few of our recommendations.
One of our favorite things to do is rent bicycles and bike over the Golden Gate Bridge, down into Sausalito and then take the ferry back. This is about an an 8 mile ride and takes a couple of hours depending on the time you take to enjoy Sausalito.
The Fillmore is a historic music venue that has hosted many famous bands over the years. If you can get a ticket to see a show, we highly recommend the experience.
Fisherman’s Warf is a great tourist attraction with lots of shops and restaurants. It is right down from the Sea Lion viewing area. This is a fantastic for young and old alike. Also nearby is the Alcatraz City Cruises. The National Park Service only has one outfitter that will get you on the island of Alcatraz for a tour inside the prison. Other companies will take you on a bay cruise around the island but we recommend stopping for the real tour. North Beach is the hub for the Italian community and Chinatown promises some delicious fares. If you get the chance, grab a trolly ticket and take a ride up and down the crazy hills- you won’t be sorry!
