Danbo Trolls- Save The Humans

We first fell in love with the Danbo Trolls when we came across Benny the Beardfisher at Northland Outfitters Campground in Germfask, MI. The Danbo Trolls were first created by environmentalist and recycle artist Thomas Danbo in 2014 with Mr. and Mrs. Limbo, created as part of the entrance to Smuk Fest, the Danish Music Festival in Skanderborg, Denmark. Since then, over 150 works of art have been created all over the world.

The Save the Humans are a traveling exhibit of 6 trolls. The purpose of the exhibit is to bring help the humans “rediscover nature and inspire them to be good stewards of the earth.” The six trolls included in the exhibit are Ronja Redeye (The Speaker Troll), Sofus Lotus (The Listening Troll), Rosa Sunfinger (The Botanical Troll), Basse Buller (The Painting Troll), Kamma Can (The Treasure Troll), and Ippi Pip (The Birdhouse Troll). We found them at Filoli House and Gardens.

The Filoli House was built between 1915 and 1917 for William Bourne II.  The world class gardens began to be built between 1917 and 1922. The estate was sold to the Roth’s in 1936 and the gardens and estate were expanded. In 1975 the estate was donated to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The house has hosted foreign dignitaries as well as concerts and other events.
