Tahquamenon Falls State Park

Keep Your Eyes Out For Moose!

Tahquamenon Falls is often regaled as one of the most magnificent falls in the upper peninsula, and we have to agree! It is only a quarter mile to the upper viewing platforms and then a mere 94 steps to the lower viewing platform. Although the Upper Falls are bigger, the Lower Falls are definitely more fun and were the highlight of this park for us.

You can catch a paid shuttle if you like or you can hike from one section of the park to the other. We chose to drive. At the lower falls, we did a 1.75 mile loop hike to the island and back. We saw so many different falls and lots of different viewing areas. Plenty of people were in the water, enjoying a swim. This park is dog friendly and if you are lucky, you might spy a moose!
