Congaree National Park

Congaree National Park is located about 30 minutes outside of Columbia. This park is a little out of the way of our usual travel route so we were excited that we could add it to the end of our 2024 travel. Visiting in October, the weather was still very warm and we needed bug spray and sunscreen. The park itself is full of mossy oak trees and the trails have a haunting feeling about them. The water was low so we decided not to do any of the kayaking adventures. Make sure to ask at the visitors center about the water levels before embarking. This is one of the relatively smaller National Parks and was easily visited in just a day or two.
