Trillium Falls Trail
There are endless miles of hiking opportunities in the Redwoods National and State Parks. The National and State Parks work in conjunction with each other to preserve the natural wonder that is the redwood trees and forrests. We did several hikes within the park system. One of our favorites was the Trillium Falls Hike.
There was plenty of parking in the lot and a nice bathroom at the trailhead . On advice from other All Trails users, we decided to take the trail clockwise rather than counterclockwise like everyone else. Less than a half a mile in there is a footbridge with a view over Prairie Creek. We got off the Trillium Falls Trail for just a couple of minutes to peek over the bridge at the river. From here, the path gets fairly steep. At the next break in the trail, I believe you were supposed to go left however, we stayed straight and I believe it bypassed an entire section of the loop probably saving us about a half a mile. The falls themselves were lovely and the hike was very Jurassic Park.
