California Coast From Pismo to Big Sur
The California Coastline Never Disappoints
This week we explored the California coastline from Pismo Beach to Big Sur.
Our camping spot at Pismo Coast Village couldn’t have been more perfect! We had full hookups and our RV was situated right next to the steps to the beach.
Jonathan started off the week with an ATV adventure at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area. He spent several hours romping around the sand dunes and he loved every minute of it!
Nearby is the Cave Landing Trail. We hiked the short distance down to Pirates Cove and Smugglers Cave.
We dedicated a full day for a drive up Highway 1 to Limekiln Falls State Park. The trails were amazing and they had a great spot to let the dogs run on the beach. On the way back towards Pismo Beach we stopped at Sand Dollar Beach. This spot can be as short or as long of a hike as you like. After that we stopped at Salmon Creek Falls. There is limited parking but some turn outs nearby if the small lot is full. I highly recommend this short hike- the waterfall is absolutely amazing.
Ragged Point is a great place to stop and use the facilities and grab a drink. There is also a nice trail to the bluffs.
Our last stop on the way back in was Elephant Seal Vista Point. There are multiple parking lots and trails between them. We walked the dogs all along the overlooks and were amazed at the amount of Elephant Seals sunbathing.
This was an amazing stop and the California coastline did not disappoint!
