Smuggler's Notch

A Narrow Mountain Pass In The Green Mountains

With a name like "Smuggler's Notch", who isn't excited to explore! This area has a rich history of illegal activites including, illegal trading with Canada in the eaarly 1800's to fugutive slaves during the mid nineteenth century to liquor running during the prohibition era.

The 272 mile long "Long Trail" which spans the length of Vermont also runs through the notch. We hiked a small portion of the trail up to Rum Runner's Hideaway.
