Yosemite National Park- Wawona & Mariposa Grove

The Southern Entrance to Yosemite

For us, with our base camp on the north-west side of Yosemite, the Wawona entrance was about a 2 hour drive. The Mariposa Grove of sequoias is only accessible by using the shuttle available at the Mariposa Visitor's Center. There is one dog-friendly trail in this part of the park, the Wawona Meadow Loop, a 3.5 mile hike.

We also took the very quick .3 mile out and .3 mile back walk to the swinging bridge. There were people swimming in the river, enjoying a nice cool dip on a hot day.
